When Discogs Can't Identify Your Pressing

Sometimes none of the automatic Discogs matches are right — the release is obscure, the evidence is ambiguous, or Discogs simply doesn't have a clean match for what you're holding. When that happens, you can enter the release yourself.

Entering a release manually

On the candidate screen, look for the option to enter a Discogs release yourself when none of the suggested matches are right. You'll need a Discogs release URL or its numeric release ID.

Important: use a release page, not a master (or "general") page. A master page groups every version of an album together; a release page is one specific pressing. The URL usually looks like discogs.com/release/1234567-... — if it says /master/ instead of /release/, keep looking for the specific pressing you have.

Before you commit

You'll see a preview of the release you entered before it's applied — check the artist, title, and pressing details match what you're holding, then confirm.
